Cave Hunting

Yesterday I got to escape from my city and went to Cantabría. At Santillana del Mar to be exact about 30 kilometers from Santander. First stop was to see the interesting polichrome paintings ( bisons, steppe horses, etc.) on the cave ceiling at the Museum of Altamira. Although the cave and it´s paintings were only a replica of the original cave of Altamira, it looked so real. Once inside, it feesl like you´ve stepped back to about 18,000 years ago to vicariously experience how life was back  then. The Altamira Cave is by the way a UNESCO World Heritage Sight. Anyway, since photography inside the museum was not allowed, I had my photos taken instead at the cloister of the Colegiata at the town center. ;)

The cloister. The sculptures are exquisite! The church and the cloister preserved it´s original Romanesque style.

Mosaic(Santillana del mar)

Santillana del Mar is a small town but very touristy. What I like about this place aside from the cave paintings and the affordable meals is that it´s the perfect shopping place for leather goods, jewelry and homemade goodies. If I only I had bought a substantial amount of  ¨shopping budget¨ with me, I would´ve hoarded a lot of stuff to take home yesterday!. :)

As for what I wore, I was thinking of gray and spring flowers, hence the floral tights. The skirt was a miss. After the last stop at Santander, the skirt was already wrinkled all over. hahaha!

shirt dress converted to top - Zara ( from the sales last year) Lately, I´ve discovered that the extra pounds that I´ve unconsciously piled over the past years have finally settled comfortably on my face. Flyday Fridays: Paris (part 1)

The first time I went to Paris was in early spring. It was raining and gloomy but that didn´t stop me from falling in love with this romantic city. Here are some things to do and places to visit when you´re in Pa-gheee . ;) 1, 2, 3: Get lost inside le Louvre,  pass by   Mona Lisa´s room and get mesmerized by her coy smile and if you like ancient jewelry, be enthralled by the museum´s jewelry collection. Even the bishop´s crozier is bejeweled! 4: Admire the Sainte Chapelle´s amazing ceiling, structure and colorful stained glass windows. 5,6: Fall in line (entrance is free!) and admire the sculpture and stained windows of the Notre Dame. By this time you´re very tired and so take a rest at the park/garden at the back of the church. Later you can cross the small bridge and have your lunch at one of the numerous creperies and restaurants in the small island. 7,8: After a light lunch, take the metro and go to Montmartre and visit the Sacré Coeur....

Skirting the Issue

Halooo! So how´s your weekend? ;) Mine was spent visiting the new flat ( we just had the new sofa delivered, yey!) and last Saturday we went to this mini-food fair where they sell lots of goodies. I tasted some chorizos, jamon serrano, and a glass of white wine too. Too bad I forgot to take the camera so no photos to show you but we brought home some sweets which unfortunately we also gobbled up during the weekend. hihihi! At least I´ve spared you from breaking your diets this summer. ;) Truth be told, I don´t look good wearing high waisted skirts because I have wide hips ( I´m good at hiding them here ;) . Maybe I could pull off wearing them 10 yrs. ago when I still have a slimmer silhouette, er, smaller waistine and hips and a flatter middle but now everything especially my hips are expanding faster like the speed of light.
