Flyday Fridays: Morning at the Museum

Image
Hello,  luvs ! cardigan- Primark, top(old)-Bershka, pants-Zara, shoes- Fluchos, bag. Misako  So here are the first set of travel photos from my Andalusian trip two weeks ago. Our travel itinerary usually goes like this: museums-> sights ->  malls,  in that order and so on our second day in Malaga, we stopped first at the Centro de Arte Contemporáneo(Center of  Contemporary Arts) before seeing other things. I liked the exhibits the first time I was here in 2012, they´re fresh, colorful, moden and the themes were always provocative but in a very good way. They also show vignettes from local newspapers which are both funny but true! Here are some pics which we took: Here´s something to think about confronting the future loosely translated as: ¨If we can´t change the horizon, let us change our viewpoint/outlook¨. And this set of paintings speak volumes and is very thought provoking, I´ll leave this to you for your own interpretation. ;) W...

Flyday Fridays: Paris (Part 2)

Image
Today on Flyday Fridays let´s talk about a palace, museums and  the historic quarter of France ´s most famous university. In other words, let´s talk about culture. ;) First, I must tell you to get a MUSEUM PASS  online or at any tourism office when you arrive in Paris. I assure you, getting this pass saves time( shorter or no queuing!) , money (entrance to the most important museums/monuments are free)  and you can visit as much as 60 museums in and around Paris. How´s that for a deal? :) Anyway, a trip to Paris is never complete without a visit to the Versailles and it´s gardens. Unfortunately, I went there on a stormy day ( yep, so unlucky for me) and so I never did get to enjoy the lovely palace grounds and Marie Antoinette´s  apartment. Even so, I had a lovely time inside the palace and it´s even photogenic despite the bad weather, no? ;) If you love contemporary arts like Monet, Manet, Degas,Gaugin, etc..., what I can I say, the Musée d´Orsay has the best ...

Museum Hopping in Lisbon

Image
Ola, ola! tops, shoes -local store, skirt - New Yorker, bag - Longchamp, jacket - Zara First, I´ve got to warn you that this is quite a picture heavy post. Now that we´ve got that out of the way, let´s go museum hopping, shall we? ;) My long Lisbon weekend was a wet and cloudy one and so we had no choice but visit museums than go sightseeing. First stop was at the Museu Nacional do Traje e da Moda at Viana do Castelo. I´m glad that we did because despite having a small collection, it was impressive and we can take photos( w/o flash) . You must see their fur collection, even my non-fashionista husband was mesmerized! ;) If  I were to compare this with the collection in Museu Pitti( in Florence), I´d say this is much better and  the entrance fee was much cheaper too! For a price of 4 euros ( if I´m not mistaken) you can visit one museum more which is the Museu Nacional do Teatro and the Botanical Garden which connects the two museums. Here are some photos which I too...

The Weekend

Image
Happy Monday, all! I had the most interesting weekend despite it being rainy and cold. Here´s what I did: Sunday: Went out to cast my first vote as a Spanish citizen.   The temperature went down to as low as 13ºC so I had to bundle up quite a bit. This was my  voting outift, a  turteneck light floral sweater which and a grayish green jacket which has been with me since last year: Saturday : Went to Bilbao to go to buy Ikea´s mustard and basil sauce ( I´m a fan of this dressing!) , went malling ( and got inside Primark too) and visited almost all of the outlet stores (scored a pleated navy blue skirt at the Mango Outlet store for 5. 99 euros!) ) and then:  ended up lining at the Guggenheim despite the heavy downpour. It´s the museum´s 15th annivesary and so the entrance free was free. Too bad we didn´t go on a Sunday, they serve free cupcakes too. :( Also took a sneaky photo ( after this one of the guides caught us, lol!) of the wo...

Modern Art

Image
Understanding modern art can be a bit tricky and mind-boggling. In fact, it makes your head spin a little trying to figure out/understand the meaning of what you´re seeing. Nevertheless, we like visiting modern museums because we like to fry our neurons ( sometimes) . The entrance fee was also free ( on Saturday afternoons and Sunday mornings) , a perfect way to pass the time, stay in the shade while ¨feasting on¨  culture and save money at the same time.Wouldn´t you like that? :) Now unto art or something like it. ;) Derelict sofa --> don´t throw your dog/cat scratched/abused sofa, it might come in handy later.  Upside down palm tree --> I wonder how they water the tree... A headless angel in purplish blue (love the color and the form!) An Intermission: Trying to get some fresh air beside the museum´s hallway windows and rest my fatty calves, hehe! Art set ( painting with a chair included-- so genius!) And now for serious art. The museu...

Day 1: Madrid

Image
Happy Saturday, everyone! I´ve finally found the day 1 photos of my short Madrid escapade. It looks like most of them were taken indoors except for this one. hahaha! This was taken at the temple of Debod, an ancient Egyptian temple rebuilt in Madrid. Day 1 look is all preppy because I was dying to wear this A-line denim skirt   in dull gray color  which I´m loving but haven´t debuted here until now and well, nothing screams more preppy than a polo shirt, right? Since I´m matchy-matchy, I paired my yellow bag with a yellow top. Bwahahaaha! ( leather bracelet- Purificación García, bangle - H&M) It was so oo hot in Madrid and so I didn´t bother staying outside to shoot the important monuments. We just snuck in at the Museo Cerralbo , the old residence of the late Marquis of Cerralbo because it was cooler there than staying out on the streets. Anyway, the sword collection in one room was an eyeful! Just like any old palace (converted into  a museum), t...
