Flyday Fridays: The Road Trip( part 1)
Happy Friday, my blogger readers and friends!
Finally, here are some travel pics taken on our five day road trip to Galicia two weeks ago, but first, here´s what I wore:
There´s nothing more comfortable than a crisp white button down, cut-offs, colored sandals and a hat to start off any summer trip. I chose a white button down to dress up a little my too casual outfit of shorts and sandals. Do you know that the white button down is versatile piece and should be a must have in your closets? You can either dress it up or down or whatever way you want and the resulting outfit always guarantees a perfect look! ;)
So our road trip´s first stop was this old town of Astorga(in the province of Leon) where I first saw this piece of work by the famous Catalan architect Antoni Gaudi ( the one and only who designed Barcelona´s La Sagrada Familia). This was one of the few works done by Gaudi outside of Catalonia. It´s called the Episcopal Palace. He did this palace for his friend, the Bishop of Astorga almost a hundred years ago. In front of this is a small plaza where you can dine or have your cold drink while marveling at this lovely building/artwork and you can visit it too. Just don´t go there at 2 pm because that´s lunch time in Spain. ;)
And like any tourist, there has to be a lot of pics taken between me and this monument, right?
Near the Episcopal Palace, is the Cathedral of Astorga built in the early 1400s. The church design is a mix of gothic, neo-classical and baroque styles.
It has a beautifully sculpted facade and portico made during the Renaissance period.
Here´s a close-up of how impressive it is, so awesome, no? ;)
By this time, you may have noticed that we´re gravitating towards old monuments(hahaha!) and to cap our day one of the ¨old world¨ themed road trip was this Templar Castle in Ponferrada. A UNESCO World Heritage Site and a must-stop for those on a pilgrimage to Saint ames of Compostela.
So how´s this shot to end day one of our trip?
More travel pics to come, in the meantime I wish you a fun and well spent weekend ahead!
Hugs,
Che
PS: Linking up with Lauren, Lena B and Rachel, Renae, Tara and Megan. Link, link, link!
