OOTD: Chupinazo

The fiesta celebration in my city starts today. Well, officially it started yesterday. With champagne, beer, cigars and a fully packed plaza. You know... the whole works and fireworks. Everyone wore shorts, the tiniest T-shirt and sandals, I wore jeans and a long floral top and a pair of wedges. Just because... I feel like prettifying  myself that day. And I mean by wearing a nice top. ;) Wearing: floral shirt dress - Bershka (summer 2010 sale) jeans - Zara ( very old) bag - Longchamp le Pliage silver and leather bracelet and ring - local fair Pardon, the wrinkled top. These photos were taken after I got home and have joined the riot fun.Today, I´m going to see what´s hitting on the streets. Can´t tell you about it now because I need to hit the sack first. It´s almost 2 am in here as I´m typing this . Talk to you later, okies? ;) xoxo, Che

The Balenciaga Series 3

So here´s the bridal edition of the Balenciaga series. All of these gowns are vintage and can be found at the Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa en Getaria, Spain. Enjoy the photos, dahlings ! ;) The first gown´s silhouette reminds me of the Duchess of Cambridge´s wedding gown which was based on Princess Grace´s gown too. The second one is much simpler. The perfect canvass for your eye catching bling on your wedding day. :) This one has all the bling sewn on it and so a perfect pair of stud earrings will do and a small discrete tiara, perhaps?   front side This last gown is very special because it was worn by Queen Fabiola ( she´s Spanish) of Belgium when she got married. The gown´s lined in mink, perfect for a winter wedding which was held in December by the way. Simple but so chic, no? ;) Now that you have some ideas for your gown when you get married, would you prefer the demure type or the sexy type? Lots of beads or woul...

Summer Essentials

Image
These super hot days, I never go out without   4 things: my hat, dark sunglasses, a pair of open toed sandals and lots of sunscreen. I´ve discovered that wearing a hat is much cooler and more chic  only last summer. Years before that I use an umbrella. Seriously. The dark sunglasses serve me 2 things : to shield my eyes from the glaring sunlight and to hide my ever growing eyebags, a  lovingly inherited feature  from my Mom´s side of the family. That´s   aside from my height and my barely their nose. lol! In summer, I only use 2 kinds of footwear, flip flops and open toed flat sandals. It´s time to give our lovely footsies a breather, dahlings! Besides, it´s too hot to cover your feet. Lastly, lots of sunscreen SPF 50. On the face, arms and even on the feet! And hey, you should apply it very 2 hours at least even if you´re not on the beach nor by the pool but just having a lovely time somewhere in the...

OOTD: Denim and Stripes

Image
Let´s take a short pause for a while from the Balenciaga series and return to the 21st century, specifically 2011. This was what I wore during one of those cold days this week: Experimenting with a different look using this denim shirt and a pair of  leggings. hehe! Kill me not. Leggings are my go-to  pants in the summer because they are so comfy and light! Heynyways , I think it was the oversized stripes tank top that completed the whole look. Or the maybe the denim... Or maybe the gold flats and clutch. An after thought just before I went out into the street. Nevertheless, I´m happy with how the whole outfit came out. It´s sort of  nicely put together or ... not. hahaha! Wearing: denim shirt - thrifted stripes tank top- Pull & Bear ( men) ballerina flats - H&M So what are you wearing these days? Happy Friday everyone and enjoy your weekend! :) Besitos, Che

The Balenciaga Series 2

For me, the best fashion era for the ¨modern¨ woman was in the 50s and early 60s. The hemlines may have gone shorter (but modestly) but you still get your frills. Here´s part 2 of my Balenciaga series. Lace, lace and nothing but lace for cocktail dresses: And then some more styles: front back So which one of these would you like to wear in a soireé? ;) xoxo, Che

The Balenciaga Series 1

Image
Kaixo! I´m greeting you in Basque . ;) This week´s   special because it´s Balenciaga week. No, no, I´m not talking about Balenciaga´s latest Fall/Winter collection nor that of next year´s Spring/Summer collection. I´m talking about the works of the legendary genius, the original Cristóbal Balenciaga. Exactly a week ago, the hubz and I went to Getaria, a small fishing village in Guipuzcoa to visit the recently inaugurated Cristóbal Balenciaga Museoa. This was Balenciaga´s birthplace and burial place and so it´s just right that they open a museum here to commemorate his works, no? ;) Balenciaga was about clean lines, fluidity, comfort with a touch of modernism and superb craftmanship. I´ll start with the day dresses first: He designed the sack dresses in the late 1950s which totally transformed the woman´s silhouette making it longer and more slender. Perfect if you have a short torso like mine. ;) A number of dresses were surprisingly...

Mono in Black

Image
I have this weird habit of wearing monochromatic outfits most of the time. Maybe because they say that wearing one color from top to bottom elongates the silhouette. As much as I try to stay away from being too conventional because I am most of the time, haha! I just can´t take away the preppiness in me. What I can I say, I´m a simple girl with just simple tastes. There´s nothing wrong with sticking to the basics from time to time, right? top- Lacoste belt- Zara bracelets- Blanco, local store I usually just add a colored belt to it to break the monotony and boringness of the look et voila , problem solved! ;) shorts- Mango So what about you? Are you the simple type or the over the top/overdressed type of gal? ;) xoxo, Che PS : Next week will be Balenciaga week. I´ll be featuring here in the blog some haute couture dresses and gowns made by the late Cristóbal Balenciaga. These divine creations are now displayed at t...
